Joseph Edward Collins (born Kollonige; December 3, 1922 – August 30, 1989) was a first baseman who spent his entire ten-season Major League career with the New York Yankees, debuting September 25, 1948. A left-handed hitter standing 6'0" and 185 pounds, Collins played 715 games at first base and 114 in the outfield, with a career-high 130 games in 1954. He often platooned with Moose Skowron. Collins hit 86 regular-season home runs and four more in seven World Series appearances. He batted .256 across 908 games. He retired in 1958 rather than report to the Philadelphia Phillies after a trade.
