Joey Jay (1935-2024) was an American right-handed pitcher who played in Major League Baseball from 1953 to 1966. He pitched for the Milwaukee and Atlanta Braves (1953-1955, 1957-1960, 1966) and the Cincinnati Reds (1961-1966). After a trade to Cincinnati, Jay won 21 games in 1961, becoming the first Reds pitcher to win 20 since Ewell Blackwell in 1947, and tied for the National League lead in wins and shutouts as the Reds reached the World Series. He won 21 games again in 1962. Over 13 seasons he compiled a 99-91 record, a 3.77 earned run average, and 999 strikeouts. He was inducted into the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame in 2008.
