John Joseph "Honest John" Anderson (December 14, 1873 – July 23, 1949) was born in Sarpsborg, Norway. His professional career ran from 1894 through 1908, placing him squarely in the nineteenth-century professional ranks, and he is most closely identified with the Chicago White Sox of the AL. After his major-league days ended in 1908, he continued in professional ball through 1912. He was listed at 6'2" and 180 pounds. He batted switch-handed and threw right-handed. For collectors, his most recognized appearance is in the iconic T206 White Border tobacco set issued 1909-11 by the American Tobacco Company. He died on July 23, 1949 in Worcester, Massachusetts and was interred at All Faiths Cemetery in Worcester, Massachusetts.
