John McMakin

John McMakin played tight end in the NFL from 1972 to 1976, suiting up for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Detroit Lions, and Seattle Seahawks over five seasons. A Clemson product, he was selected 63rd overall by Pittsburgh in the third round of the 1972 NFL Draft. McMakin is connected to two signature moments in Steelers history: he was on the field for the Immaculate Reception in the 1972 AFC divisional playoff against Oakland, where his block on linebacker Phil Villapiano factored into the play's outcome. He also earned a ring as a member of Pittsburgh's Super Bowl IX championship team over the Minnesota Vikings.
