Jorge Orta Núñez (born November 26, 1950) was a Mexican professional baseball player who spent fifteen seasons in Major League Baseball from 1972 to 1987. He played second base and outfield for the Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians, Los Angeles Dodgers, Toronto Blue Jays, and Kansas City Royals. Orta entered the White Sox organization directly from the Mexican Baseball League, breaking into the majors in 1972 without first playing in the minor leagues. He is best remembered for his involvement in one of the most controversial plays in World Series history.
