Ken Holcombe was an American pitcher in Major League Baseball who played between 1945 and 1953. Born in Burnsville, North Carolina, in 1918, he made his major league debut at age 26 with the New York Yankees in 1945, posting a 1.79 ERA over 23 appearances in his rookie season. He later pitched for the Cincinnati Reds (1948), Chicago White Sox (1950–1952), St. Louis Browns (1952) and Boston Red Sox (1953). His most productive season came in 1951 with the White Sox, when he won 11 games as a starter with 12 complete games and a 3.78 ERA, all career highs. Over six major league seasons Holcombe compiled an 18-32 record with a 3.98 ERA across 99 appearances, including 48 starts, 18 complete games, two shutouts and 375 innings pitched. He died in 2010 at age 91.
