Dossier
Kenneth Frederick Keltner (1916–1991) played third base in Major League Baseball from 1937 to 1950, spending the bulk of his career with the Cleveland Indians. A seven-time All-Star, he was one of the better-fielding third basemen of the 1940s. He is widely remembered for making two backhanded plays on July 17, 1941, that helped end Joe DiMaggio's 56-game hitting streak. Keltner was a member of Cleveland's 1948 World Series championship team and played his final season with the Boston Red Sox. He was inducted into the Cleveland Guardians Hall of Fame in 1951.
