Michael Kent Benson (born December 27, 1954) played college basketball at Indiana University under coach Bobby Knight, earning two All-American selections and the 1976 Helms Foundation Player of the Year award. A center, he was named Most Outstanding Player of the 1976 NCAA Final Four as the Hoosiers finished 32–0 to claim the national championship. Selected first overall by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 1977 NBA Draft, Benson spent 11 seasons in the league with Milwaukee (1977–1980), the Detroit Pistons (1980–1986), the Utah Jazz (1986–1987), and the Cleveland Cavaliers (1988).
