Larry Sacharuk

Dossier
Lawrence William Sacharuk (born September 16, 1952) is a Canadian defenceman who began his junior career at age 14 with the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Canadian Hockey League in 1967—an unusual placement given that most Blades players were 17 to 20. Already near six feet and 180 pounds, Sacharuk drew early notice for his slap-shot. The New York Rangers selected him in the second round, 21st overall, in the 1972 NHL Amateur Draft. He went on to play 151 NHL games for the Rangers and St. Louis Blues between 1972 and 1977, and appeared in 15 WHA games with the Indianapolis Racers in 1978–79.
