Dossier

Henry Lee "Specs" Meadows (July 12, 1894 – January 29, 1963) was a right-handed pitcher who spent parts of 15 seasons (1915–1929) in the National League with the St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies, and Pittsburgh Pirates. One of the few players of his era to wear glasses on the field, he earned his nickname accordingly. Meadows led the National League in wins in 1926 and finished his career with a 188–180 record, 3.37 ERA, and 1,063 strikeouts across 490 appearances. He was part of two Pittsburgh pennant-winning clubs (1925, 1927) and earned a World Series ring in 1925.
