Lew Krausse
Dossier
Lew Krausse Jr. (April 25, 1943 – February 16, 2021) was a right-handed starting pitcher who spent 12 seasons in Major League Baseball from 1961 to 1974. The son of a former Philadelphia Athletics pitcher, Krausse signed with the Kansas City Athletics out of high school for $125,000 and impressed immediately, throwing a shutout in his first major league start on June 16, 1961. Arm trouble derailed his development, and he did not establish himself as a regular until 1966, when he won 14 games — the high point of his career. He also played for the Milwaukee Brewers, Boston Red Sox, St. Louis Cardinals, and Atlanta Braves.
