Mark Koenig

Dossier

Mark Anthony Koenig (July 19, 1904 – April 22, 1993) was an American baseball shortstop who played twelve seasons in Major League Baseball between 1925 and 1936. Born in San Francisco, he was a switch hitter who threw right-handed. Koenig spent five seasons with the New York Yankees after debuting in September 1925, then passed through the Detroit Tigers, Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, and New York Giants via a series of trades. Though primarily a shortstop, he also saw time at second and third base. He is remembered as the last surviving member of the Yankees' Murderers' Row.
