Mervin Weldon Rettenmund (June 6, 1943 – December 7, 2024) was an outfielder who played in Major League Baseball from 1968 through 1980. Before turning to baseball professionally, he attended Ball State University on a football scholarship, lettering in both baseball and football and earning all-league honors in each sport. He had turned down an earlier contract offer from the Detroit Tigers. Rettenmund is best known as a member of the Baltimore Orioles teams that won three consecutive American League pennants from 1969 to 1971 and the World Series in 1970. He later won a championship as a player with the Cincinnati Reds in 1975 and as a coach with the Oakland Athletics in 1989.
