Mickey Harris

Dossier
Maurice Charles "Mickey" Harris was an American pitcher in Major League Baseball who played nine seasons between 1940 and 1952. Born in New York City in 1917, he batted and threw left-handed. He pitched for the Boston Red Sox, Washington Senators and Cleveland Indians, and his career was interrupted by military service during World War II. Returning in 1946 after four seasons away from professional baseball, Harris compiled a 17-9 record as the Red Sox won the American League pennant, and he was named to the All-Star team that year. He started two games in the 1946 World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals. Chronic arm problems affected much of his career. Over nine major league seasons he posted a 59-71 record with 534 strikeouts and a 4.18 ERA across 1,050 innings pitched. Harris died in 1971 at age 54.
