Milton Eugene "Mickey" Slaughter (1941–2023) was a quarterback who played college football at Louisiana Tech under Hall of Fame coach Joe Aillet, earning all-conference honors three times before graduating in 1963. Raised in Alexandria, Louisiana, he was drafted in the seventh round by the Denver Broncos and played his entire four-year professional career in the American Football League. His 1963 rookie season produced several Broncos franchise records that remained on the books as of 2017, including 1,689 passing yards and five interceptions thrown in a single game against the Houston Oilers. After his playing career, he returned to Louisiana Tech as an assistant coach.
