Michael Jay Andrews (born July 9, 1943, in Torrance, California) played infield in Major League Baseball for the Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox, and Oakland Athletics. A three-sport standout at South High School in Torrance, he earned a football scholarship to UCLA and Junior College All-American honors as a wide receiver at El Camino College before his baseball talent led the Red Sox to sign him as an amateur free agent in December 1961 for a $12,000 bonus. After his playing career he served more than 25 years as chairman of The Jimmy Fund, the fundraising organization affiliated with the Dana–Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.
