James Michael Hegan (July 21, 1942 – December 25, 2013) was a first baseman and outfielder who played for three American League franchises between 1964 and 1977. The son of Cleveland Indians catcher Jim Hegan, he graduated from Saint Ignatius High School in Cleveland and attended the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, on a football and baseball scholarship before later continuing his education at John Carroll University. In August 1961, fifteen major league clubs offered him contracts; he signed with the New York Yankees. After his playing career he worked as a sports commentator.
