Mike Rogers
Dossier
Michael R. Rogers (born October 24, 1954) was a Canadian professional ice hockey centre who played five seasons in the World Hockey Association before seven seasons in the National Hockey League. Drafted in 1974 by both the NHL's Vancouver Canucks and the WHA's Edmonton Oilers, Rogers chose Edmonton, where he led the team in scoring during the 1974–75 season. He was later traded to the New England Whalers and entered the NHL when the leagues merged in 1979–80. Rogers is one of four players — alongside Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, and Peter Stastny — to record 100 or more points in each of his first three NHL seasons. In 1981–82 with the New York Rangers, he posted 103 points on 38 goals and 65 assists, becoming just the third Ranger in franchise history to reach that mark.
