Mike Thomas (1953-2019) was an American football running back who played six seasons in the National Football League, primarily with the Washington Redskins and San Diego Chargers. He played college football at Oklahoma before transferring to UNLV, where he became the school's all-time leading rusher. Selected in the fifth round of the 1975 NFL draft by Washington, he was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year after rushing for 919 yards and adding 483 receiving yards. In 1976 he was selected to the Pro Bowl, leading the Redskins with 1,101 rushing yards and five touchdowns. He was traded to the San Diego Chargers in 1979.
