Mike Torrez was a right-handed starting pitcher who spent 18 seasons in Major League Baseball. Born in Topeka, Kansas, he was signed by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1964 and made his MLB debut with them in 1967. His career took him through the Montreal Expos, Baltimore Orioles, Oakland Athletics, New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, and New York Mets. His best single season came with Baltimore in 1975, when he won 20 games with a .690 winning percentage. As a member of the 1977 New York Yankees, he won two games in the World Series victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
