Michael David Veisor was born on August 25, 1952, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. A goaltender, he was selected in the third round (45th overall) of the 1972 NHL Amateur Draft and began his NHL career with the Chicago Black Hawks in 1973. He went on to play for the Hartford Whalers and Winnipeg Jets, appearing in 139 NHL games before retiring after the 1984 season. Veisor was the second Jewish goaltender in NHL history, preceded by Ross Brooks. He was known for his agility, described by contemporaries as playing goal "like a trapeze artist."
