Mike Webster played center in the NFL from 1974 to 1990, spending the bulk of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers before finishing with the Kansas City Chiefs. Born in Tomahawk, Wisconsin, on March 18, 1952, Webster anchored the Steelers' offensive line through four Super Bowl victories between 1974 and 1979. Known as "Iron Mike" for his durability, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1997. Webster died on September 24, 2002, at age 50 from a heart attack. His autopsy revealed chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a finding that drew widespread attention to the brain disease.
