Mizell George Platt (1920-1970), known as Whitey Platt, was an outfielder in Major League Baseball who batted and threw right-handed. He played for the Chicago Cubs (1942-1943), the Chicago White Sox (1946), and the St. Louis Browns (1948-1949). His major league career was interrupted by service in the U.S. Navy during World War II in 1944 and 1945. Over his big-league career he batted .255 with 13 home runs and 147 runs batted in. He had a more substantial minor league record, posting a .299 average with 1,378 hits across 11 seasons. Before his professional career, he represented the United States national team at the 1938 Amateur World Series in England, where the team earned a silver medal. In a 1948 game he was involved in an incident in which he threw his bat toward pitcher Satchel Paige after objecting to facing him.
