Monte Towe (born September 27, 1953, in Marion, Indiana) was a professional basketball player and coach. Standing five feet seven inches, he ranks among the ten shortest players in NBA history. Towe played point guard at North Carolina State University, where he was a starting member of the 1973–74 Wolfpack team that won the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship. He attended Oak Hill High School in Converse, Indiana, where he also excelled in baseball and football, earning All-Area honors and leading the football team to eighteen consecutive victories as quarterback.
