Municipal Stadium

Dossier
Kansas City Municipal Stadium stood at the corner of Brooklyn Avenue and E. 22nd Street in Kansas City, Missouri. Built in 1923, it served as home to the minor-league Kansas City Blues and the Kansas City Monarchs of the Negro leagues before being nearly completely rebuilt ahead of the 1955 season. The Kansas City Athletics played there from 1955 to 1967, followed by the Kansas City Royals from 1969 to 1972. The stadium also hosted the Kansas City Chiefs from 1963 to 1971 and staged the first game of the 1960 MLB All-Star Game. Jackie Robinson played there for the Monarchs in 1945 before signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers.
