Neil Habig

Dossier

Neil Habig (September 6, 1936 – November 24, 1992) was a center and linebacker who played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Canadian Football League from 1958 to 1964. A dominant presence at center, he earned CFL All-Star honors in 1962 — the inaugural year the award was given — and was named a Western Conference All-Star six consecutive times from 1959 to 1964. As a linebacker, Habig recorded 10 career interceptions, including six in the 1963 season. Saskatchewan reached the Western Finals that year but fell to the BC Lions, and Habig never appeared in a Grey Cup game.
