Norman Leslie Sloan Jr. (June 25, 1926 – December 9, 2003) was a college basketball coach and Indiana native who played basketball and football at North Carolina State University before beginning a coaching career in 1951. Over 38 seasons he led programs at Presbyterian College, The Citadel, North Carolina State, and the University of Florida in two separate stints. He was named conference coach of the year five times and guided North Carolina State to the 1974 national championship. Known as "Stormin' Norman" for his combative relationships with media, players, and administrators, his career ended amid a Florida program investigation in 1989.
