Norman Mack Van Brocklin (March 15, 1926 – May 2, 1983) played quarterback in the NFL for 12 seasons, earning the nickname "the Dutchman." He played college football at Oregon, earning All-America honors in 1948, before the Los Angeles Rams selected him in the fourth round of the 1949 draft. He shared starting duties with Bob Waterfield during his first three seasons, the two quarterbacks leading Los Angeles to the 1951 NFL championship. Van Brocklin earned six consecutive Pro Bowl selections as the Rams' primary starter and led the league in passing yards in 1954. He finished his playing career with the Philadelphia Eagles, bringing his Pro Bowl total to nine.
