Owen Wilson

Owen Wilson played professional baseball during the early twentieth century, in the era documented by the tobacco-and-caramel card issues of the day. He appears on the E125 American Caramel Die Cuts and E254 Colgan's Chips issues, two of the defining sets of the deadball era. The E125 American Caramel Die Cuts issue belongs to the so-called caramel-card category — small color cards distributed as premiums in candy boxes during the deadball era. Detailed biographical records for many supporting players of the 1909-1915 era are sparse; what survives in the historical ledger is often the cardboard itself, which fixes the player in time and team even when the fuller arc of his life is no longer recoverable.
