Samuel Paul Derringer (1906–1987) was a right-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball who played in the National League from 1931 to 1945. He debuted with the St. Louis Cardinals, winning 18 games for the 1931 World Series champions and leading the NL in winning percentage (.692). He spent the bulk of his career with the Cincinnati Reds, winning 20 or more games four times between 1935 and 1940 and posting a 25–7 record in 1939 as Cincinnati claimed its first NL pennant in 20 years. His 161 wins with the Reds remain a franchise record for right-handers.
