Dossier

Peter Thomas Ward (1937–2022) was a Canadian-born infielder and outfielder who spent nine seasons in Major League Baseball. Born in Montréal and raised in Portland, Oregon, he was the son of former NHL forward Jimmy Ward. After a cup of coffee with the Baltimore Orioles in 1962, Ward joined the Chicago White Sox, where he spent the bulk of his career before finishing with the New York Yankees in 1970. In 1963 he was runner-up for the American League Rookie of the Year Award but earned that honor from The Sporting News; he placed in the AL MVP top ten in both 1963 and 1964.
