Phil Hankinson (1951–1996) was an American basketball player who grew up in Great Neck, New York. A 6'8" forward, he attended the University of Pennsylvania from 1970 to 1973, where he was part of three Ivy League championship teams that reached the NCAA Tournament and was named team MVP in 1973. Selected by the Boston Celtics in the second round of the 1973 NBA Draft, Hankinson appeared in two seasons with the club, averaging 3.9 points and 1.8 rebounds per game, and earned an NBA championship ring with the Celtics in 1974 before a knee injury ended his career.
