Ralph Hodgin was an American Major League Baseball outfielder and third baseman who played from 1939 to 1948. He appeared for the Boston Bees in 1939 and the Chicago White Sox in 1943-1944 and 1946-1948. Over 530 games he batted .285 with 481 hits, four home runs, and 188 RBI. A contact hitter who was difficult to strike out, he posted his career-high .314 average in 1943. He served in the military during the 1945 season. In 1947 he was struck in the head by a pitch from Hal Newhouser, suffering a concussion that affected his later performance. Hodgin played during the 1940s, including the World War II years.
