Raymond Otis Boone (1923–2004) was a right-handed infielder who played thirteen seasons in Major League Baseball primarily as a shortstop and third baseman. A San Diego native and Hoover High School graduate, he served in the United States Navy during World War II before beginning his professional career with the Cleveland Indians. Boone went on to play for the Detroit Tigers, Chicago White Sox, Kansas City Athletics, Milwaukee Braves, and Boston Red Sox, finishing with a .275 average, 151 home runs, and 737 RBIs in 1,373 games. He was a two-time American League All-Star (1954, 1956) and led the league with 116 RBIs in 1955. His son Bob and grandsons Bret and Aaron also played in MLB.
