Richard Douglas Green (born February 20, 1956) is a Canadian ice hockey defenceman who played in the NHL from 1976 to 1991. Selected first overall by the Washington Capitals in the 1976 NHL Amateur Draft, he spent his first six seasons in Washington before being traded to the Montreal Canadiens in September 1982 in a six-player deal. Green won the Stanley Cup with Montreal in 1986. He later played for the Detroit Red Wings and New York Islanders before retiring. As a junior with the London Knights, he earned the 1976 Max Kaminsky Trophy for Most Outstanding Defenceman.
