Richard Anthony Allen (March 8, 1942 – December 7, 2020), nicknamed "Crash" and "the Wampum Walloper," was a first baseman and third baseman who played 15 seasons in Major League Baseball, most notably for the Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago White Sox. A seven-time All-Star, he won the 1964 National League Rookie of the Year award and the 1972 American League Most Valuable Player award. Allen led his league in home runs twice and posted a career .534 slugging percentage. The Phillies retired his number 15 in September 2020, and he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2025.
