Robert Moses "Lefty" Grove (March 6, 1900 – May 22, 1975) was an American professional baseball pitcher who spent his MLB career with the Philadelphia Athletics and Boston Red Sox. Born in Lonaconing, Maryland, Grove led the American League in strikeouts seven consecutive seasons and posted the league's lowest ERA a record nine times. From 1929 to 1931 he went 79–15 and twice won the pitcher's Triple Crown, helping the Athletics claim three straight AL pennants. Grove finished with 300 career wins across 17 seasons and was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1947.
