Robert Newhouse
Dossier
Robert Fulton Newhouse (January 9, 1950 – July 22, 2014) was a fullback in the National Football League who spent twelve seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. He played college football at the University of Houston, where he was a tri-captain of the 1971 team. That season, playing through a cracked pelvis suffered in an automobile accident before the year began, he rushed for 1,757 yards — second most in NCAA history at the time and a school record — earning second-team All-American honors. Houston went 9–3 in 1971 and finished ranked 17th nationally.
