John Carlson is an American professional ice hockey defenseman born January 10, 1990, in Natick, Massachusetts. Selected by the Washington Capitals in the first round, 27th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Carlson developed through the Ontario Hockey League with the London Knights and the American Hockey League with the Hershey Bears before joining Washington. He represented the United States at the 2010 World Junior Championship and the 2014 Winter Olympics. Carlson won the Stanley Cup with the Capitals in 2018, finishing as the highest-scoring defenseman of that postseason. He currently plays for the Anaheim Ducks.
