Dossier
Ronald George Brand (born January 13, 1940) was a catcher who played in Major League Baseball from 1963 through the late 1960s. A product of North Hollywood High School, he signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates as an amateur free agent and spent five seasons in their farm system before debuting in 1963. Selected by Houston in the 1964 rule 5 draft, Brand won the Astros' starting catching job from John Bateman during the 1965 season, hitting three home runs across his career — the last coming on August 18, 1965.
