Ronald Alan Swoboda (born June 30, 1944, Baltimore, Maryland) played outfield in Major League Baseball from 1965 through 1973, primarily with the New York Mets. After one season at the University of Maryland and a strong showing in the AAABA tournament, he signed with the Mets in 1963 and reached the majors following a single AA season at Williamsport. Swoboda was part of the 1969 Mets team that upset the heavily favored Baltimore Orioles in the World Series, and he made a memorable defensive play in the ninth inning of Game 4. He also played for the Montreal Expos and New York Yankees.
