Roy Smalley III is an American shortstop who played in Major League Baseball from 1975 through 1987. A switch-hitter who threw right-handed, Smalley spent the bulk of his career with the Minnesota Twins, also suiting up for the Texas Rangers, New York Yankees, and Chicago White Sox. He played college baseball at the University of Southern California, where he was part of back-to-back College World Series championship teams in 1972 and 1973 under coach Rod Dedeaux, earning All-American and All-College World Series honors in 1973. His father, Roy Jr., was also a major league shortstop, and his uncle Gene Mauch had a long career as an MLB manager.
