Russell Eugene Nixon (February 19, 1935 – November 8, 2016) was a left-handed-batting, right-handed-throwing catcher who played twelve seasons in Major League Baseball from 1957 to 1968. Born in Cleves, Ohio, he attended Western Hills High School in Cincinnati and the University of Cincinnati before signing with the Cleveland Indians in 1953 alongside his twin brother Roy. Nixon went on to catch for the Indians (1957–60), Boston Red Sox (1960–65, 1968), and Minnesota Twins (1966–67), with his best campaign coming in 1958 when he caught 101 games for Cleveland. He later managed the Cincinnati Reds and Atlanta Braves.
