Samuel "Toothpick" Jones (December 14, 1925 – November 5, 1971) was a right-handed pitcher from Stewartsville, Ohio who pitched in the major leagues from 1951 to 1964 for the Cleveland Indians, Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, San Francisco Giants, Detroit Tigers, and Baltimore Orioles. Before reaching the majors, Jones played for several Negro league teams including the Cleveland Buckeyes under Quincy Trouppe and a Kansas City Royals touring squad assembled by Satchel Paige. On May 3, 1952, Jones and catcher Quincy Trouppe formed the first Black battery in American League history.
