Dossier
Sebastian Daniel "Sibby" Sisti (July 26, 1920 – April 24, 2006) was a utility player in Major League Baseball who spent his entire career with the Boston Bees / Braves organization. He debuted on July 21, 1939, at age 18, and remained with the club through 1942 before entering military service. He served in the United States Coast Guard from 1943 to 1945. Returning in 1946, he spent most of that season with the Indianapolis Indians of the American Association, hitting .343 and winning The Sporting News Minor League Player of the Year Award. He rejoined the Braves and was a member of the 1948 National League pennant-winning team that reached the World Series. Known for his versatility, Sisti played every position except pitcher and catcher over his career, and his play through repeated injuries made him a fan favorite. He was among the early inductees into the Boston Braves Hall of Fame, alongside Warren Spahn, Johnny Sain, and Tommy Holmes. Sisti was born in Buffalo, New York.
