Sonny Wade

Jesse Harold "Sonny" Wade (born April 1, 1947) played quarterback in the Canadian Football League for the Montreal Alouettes from 1969 to 1978. A Virginia native, Wade attended Martinsville High School before transferring to Emory & Henry College in Virginia, where he earned All-American honors. He was offered a professional baseball contract by the Pittsburgh Pirates out of high school but chose football instead, initially accepting a scholarship at Virginia Tech before ultimately transferring to Emory & Henry. His decade-long tenure with Montreal made him one of the more durable quarterbacks in Alouettes history during that era.
