Stanley Edward Lopata (September 12, 1925 – June 15, 2013) was a catcher who spent 13 seasons in the National League with the Philadelphia Phillies and Milwaukee Braves. Born in the Delray neighborhood of Detroit to Polish immigrant parents, Lopata served with the 14th Armored Division in Europe during World War II, earning the Bronze Star and Purple Heart before beginning his professional career in 1946. In 853 career games he batted .254 with 116 home runs and 379 RBI. A two-time All-Star, he was the first National League catcher to wear glasses.
