Steve Hamilton

Dossier
Steve Hamilton (November 30, 1934 – December 2, 1997) was an American athlete who played in both Major League Baseball and the National Basketball Association. A left-handed pitcher, he played twelve MLB seasons from 1961 to 1972, primarily in middle relief, including a stint as the New York Yankees' closer in 1968. Late in his career he became known for the "Folly Floater," a high, slow eephus pitch lobbed in a tall arc through the strike zone. Over 421 career games he compiled a 40–31 record with 42 saves and a 3.05 earned run average. Hamilton is one of a small number of athletes to have played in both the NBA and MLB.
