Terry Moore

Terry Bluford Moore was an American center fielder who played eleven seasons in Major League Baseball, all with the St. Louis Cardinals, from 1935 to 1948. Born in Vernon, Alabama, in 1912, he was known for his defensive range and served as Cardinals team captain. He was selected to the National League All-Star team for four consecutive seasons from 1939 to 1942. On September 5, 1935, he went 6-for-6 against the Boston Braves at Sportsman's Park. Moore's career was interrupted from 1943 to 1945 by service in World War II. He helped the Cardinals win the World Series in 1942 against the New York Yankees and in 1946 against the Boston Red Sox. After retiring as a player he coached for the Cardinals from 1949 to 1958 and briefly managed the Philadelphia Phillies in 1954. Moore died in 1995 at age 82.
