Tom Burgmeier

Dossier
Thomas Henry Burgmeier (born August 2, 1943, in St. Paul, Minnesota) was a right-handed relief pitcher who spent 17 seasons in the American League from 1968 to 1984. He played for the California Angels, Kansas City Royals, Minnesota Twins, Boston Red Sox, and Oakland A's. A graduate of Cathedral High School in St. Cloud, Minnesota, Burgmeier was selected to the AL All-Star team in 1980. That same season, he briefly shifted to left field during a ninth-inning save situation against Texas, returning to the mound only if needed — a tactical move by manager Don Zimmer. He later served as pitching coach for the Omaha Royals.
